Drive OST, Cliff Martinez.

Hold it up to the light and you can see it’s marbled pink vinyl.

Drive, intro credits.  HOTTTTTTTT

Carey Mulligan

“I emailed my agent and said, I just want to work with someone like Nicolas Winding Refn – anyone who makes films like he does,” Carey said . “He will always tell me if I’m being rubbish,” she added.

Oh, girl, you are never rubbish.

The tender, gooey, delicious centre of this film, which is anything but otherwise.

When I met with Nicolas Winding Refn, it was the worst meeting. He didn’t look at me, he wouldn’t talk to me, it was like a bad date. I wanted to get out of there so I said ‘I’m going home’ and he said ‘Well, okay but I need a ride home ‘cause I can’t drive.’ and I said ‘How are you gonna make a movie called drive if you can’t even drive? Alright.’ So I drive him, he doesn’t talk to me, he’s sitting in the car and I turned on the radio just to quiet the silence and REO Speedwagon’s ‘I can’t fight this feeling anymore’ came on. I’m driving and I hear him crying. And then he looks at me and he go ‘It’s time to bring this ship in from the shore!’ and he starts singing at the top of his lungs.

I KNEW there had to be a reason I radomly became obsessed with REO Speedwagon this past week.  Seriously, all of Hi Infidelity ON REPEAT.

“Autant vous le dire tout de suite, il y a très, très,… mais alors très longtemps qu’il m’aura été donné de vivre une telle expérience au cinéma. Peut-être pas depuis Buffalo 66 en 1998 qui, même si ces deux films n’ont rien à voir, ressemble par moment à Drive dans la façon subtile avec laquelle s’entremêle amour et violence.”
